About Doig's of Glasgow

One of the original names for coach hire in Scotland Doig's can be traced back to Doig's of Greenock, a coal merchant who diversified into coach hire around 1945. In the 1960's the company passed ownership and operated from two depots, one in Glasgow and other in Greenock. From the 1960's to the early 1990's Doig's operated mainly under the Doig's of Greenock banner. During this time the company were well known for trips to Ireland and we still receive at least one phone call a week from someone asking if we still operate these trips (we don't unfortunately!). In 1991 the company passed ownership to Andrew Forsyth and for the last 30 years Doig's has been branded as Doig's of Glasgow.

After the takeover in 1991 Doig's focused on supplying luxury coach hire across central Scotland and quickly established themselves as Scotland's Premier Coach Operator. As our reputation grew so did our client base and in 2012 one of our most high profile jobs involved supplying all transportation for Barcelona FC during their stay in Glasgow. We have been fortunate over recent seasons to supply transportation for some of Europe's largest football teams including Juventus, Benfica, Zenit St Petersburg, Spartak Moscow, Porto, FC Braga and Bayer Leverkusen.

As our reputation grew 2014 ensured not only a memorable year for Scotland however one for Doig's also. With the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow Doig's supplied all transportation for 3 of the most prestigious elements. Prior to the start of the games we supplied the Queens Baton Relay coach. This vehicle travelled with the Queens Baton Relay across Scotland for 40 days and nights providing Police Scotland with a command base for the full duration. Once the Commonwealth Games commenced we supplied all the transport requirements for the official timers of the event, Longines. This involved making sure all timing staff arrived at the 261 medal events across 11 days on time and safely. Lastly we provided all coach requirements for one of the games main sponsors, BP. This involved 5 luxury coaches ensuring BP's selected staff, customers and ambassadors were able to attend all the events on offer during 11 memorable days of sport.

Once the Commonwealth Games had been completed we only had a very short time to get ready for the next challenge – providing the two official team coaches for the Ryder Cup 2014 based in Gleneagles. Both coaches were fully wrapped in European & USA designs and provided players and partners with luxury transportation during the event.

In 2014 Doig's purchased a new site, 77 Melbourne Street Glasgow, and this is located very close to Glasgow City Centre. We moved in late 2015 and from this new 2.2 acre site Doig's are able to operate our full fleet of luxury coaches & cars from one base.

Whilst Doigs have always maintained a modern fleet over the last couple of years we have concentrated on limiting the environmental impact our vehicles have on our planet and we are very proud to confirm that midway through 2020 we achieved 100% Euro 6 compliance. Euro 6 is the latest emission standard across the UK and EU and ensures when you hire a coach from Doigs every mile has a 99 percent reduction in the emission of pollutants than a coach not meeting Euro 6 levels.
